You won't want to miss this!
Our next two books and first community phone bank.
Hello everyone!!
First of all, thank you to each and every one of you who has read along, attended one of our virtual discussions, or engaged with the content we’ve been putting out there. We grew so much through and with you over the course of our first three books. After a bit of rest, we are ready to make some big announcements, so get out your calendar and get ready to keep going on this Anti-Racism journey with us.
As we announced a few weeks back, our next book choice will also be our first endeavor into fiction, and we can’t wait. Homegoing is Jess’ favorite novel and I’m already enamored from what I’ve read so far. We hope you will join us, even if you’ve never come to a session before.
But! We know the impending election in the US is… 1. Of the utmost importance and 2. Because of it you might not have all the time necessary to read the book.
So… We’ve decided to host a group phone bank for some last minute get-out-the-vote efforts. Please join us on Sunday, November 1st to make calls, be in (virtual) community, and make a difference. If you’re interested, please fill out this quick form, and we’ll be in touch with details.
Then, we will be meeting on Sunday, November 15th at 10am PST (11am MT, 12pm CT, 1pm ET), and Wednesday, November 18th at 7pm ET (4pm PT, 5pm MT, 6pm CT) for Homegoing discussions.
And, drum roll please... We’ve chosen our last book of the year! For December we will be reading Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall! (Pick it up from one of these amazing stores.) This is one of the best, most eye-opening, educational books I’ve read this year and I am stokedto share it with y’all. I truly learned more in this book than I can even begin to put into words. We’ll be meeting on Sunday, December 13th at 10am PST (11am MT, 12pm CT, 1pm ET) and Wednesday, December 16th at 7pm ET (4pm PT, 5pm MT, 6pm CT) to discuss.
Finally, as we fly towards the end of this tumultuous year, we’d like to take a moment to look forward to 2021. We’ve made this quick form to get your thoughts on books for next year, topics you’d like to see covered in the newsletter, and any other ideas you’d like to share to make this community even better. Thank you in advance for filling it out!
Once again, thank you for your dedication, time, spirit, and unwavering commitment to anti-racism. You hold us accountable, and we are all better together.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Lori
