Reading Schedule
Please find our reading and reflection schedule from June 29 - October 4, 2020 here!
We’ve structured a 14-week schedule for the Antiracist Learning and Unlearning Book Club books that groups together relevant chapters and reflections, and sets a consistent pace for managing the commitment of this book club. Of course, you are welcome to read at a pace that suits you. Please know that we will be syncing the resources and themes in the weekly newsletter with this schedule, and all group meetings (1-2x/month) will operate with the assumption that members are caught up to that week’s readings.
Please also note that we have broken down the 28-Day Prompts and Reflections from Me and White Supremacy across the 14 weeks, to be a few prompts per week! We felt this was much more manageable, however, we will all still have several reflection prompts to do from the book each week. Please plan to make adequate time for thoughtful reflection. We have found these prompts to be incredibly thought-provoking, and challenging, and we have needed space for our own emotions when conducting them.
Finally, we know this may look like a lot at first. We wanted to give you everything up front so you can plan accordingly. But if you are feeling intimidated, we honor that —and we also invite you to challenge yourself to go deeper into this work. If there is ever a moment to be doing the uncomfortable, sometimes challenging work of thoughtful learning, unlearning, and reflection, this is it.
We commit to staying in the work with you, and hope you will join us in holding yourself to a higher standard of time spent learning and unlearning in the months ahead.
Reading and Reflection Prompt Schedule from June 29 - October 4, 2020
Week 1: June 29 - July 5
Note: This week, we are celebrating the national holiday of Malia Obama’s Birthday :) In all seriousness, happy 4th of July to those celebrating, and we are in solemn solidarity with those who do not feel that the United States can be celebrated until all are truly free. Either way, we hope you have some ice cream today!
