Black History Month Teach-In
Hello everyone! Happy not-so-new year!
We appreciate all of your patience as we took the month of January off for some personal reasons, but are very eager to be in community with you all once again.
Given the shortness of this month and our delay, instead of a book this month, we want to have a Communal Teach-In on Sunday the 28th at our usual Sunday meeting time (10am PST (11am MT, 12pm CT, 1pm ET)) to share about BHM!
Each attendee will be responsible for learning something about Black history over the course of the month, through any means that you’d like. For example Jess is reading Stamped from the Beginning by Dr. Kendi and I’m tuning into Ericka Hart’s daily lessons. In our group meeting space each attendee will have 5 to 10 minutes each to teach the group about one thing they learned. This can involve images, short videos, or slides, whatever works for you! We’re hoping this can be Black history in your area, in your country, in your field, again it’s up to you. The idea is that we are each responsible for learning and teaching this community.
Here is the sign-up link for those who are interested and able to join!!
Closer to the date we will send out a spreadsheet to see what topics everyone will discuss, in order to vary as much as possible. There are so many amazing content creators out there putting out intersectional, informative content. Please take this time to learn from Black educators, pay them for their time, effort, and energy, and remember to keep learning about Black History every month of the year.
We are really excited to try this slightly different format and see what y’all learn!! Please feel free to contact us with any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
In community,
Lori and Jess
